Riding the Rails

About a month ago we headed up to the train museum again-I think we've been four or five times this year already. Here's a few pictures of Joseph at one of his favourite places...

And Elizabeth? Don't worry about her, she had a lovely time being pushed around in her pram adding to her knowledge of trains.

Blue Steel

Joseph found these glasses in my dress up box (yes, I have a dress up box. Don't judge. Pre-2006, I used to go to parties that didn't involve cupcakes and lolly bags). Anyway, these little numbers (which some of you, and you know who you are, will recognise) were part of a 60's costume that also involved a geometric print dress and an afro wig. Thank goodness he didn't find those too!

Since finding them, Joseph has claimed them as his own and insists on wearing them out. Is he a mini fashionista? An 'It' Boy? Or just channelling his inner Nicole Richie? He even has his paparazzi pout perfected.

This is how all the cool kids are wearing their glasses....
You can imagine that Daddy is thrilled with this latest development.

Celebrating Three: Wrapping it up

The never ending third birthday finally finished with having Joseph's little playgroup friends over for cupcakes.

Joseph wanted to help make cakes, so I put him to work icing biscuits instead.

Can you tell that these were iced by a three year old?

Having Happy Birthday sung to you never gets old.

Can we have another party tomorrow?

Celebrating Three: The Big Day

Here's how Joseph's big day was spent.......

Up early for presents.....thanks for my new car Elizabeth!

Then, per the birthday boy's request/ demand (is there much difference at 3?) we went to the 'Dinosaur Museum' where Aunty Dianne and Joseph hung out with the Triceratops.

Koala was happy to catch up with an old friend.

Joseph and Jackson had a game of Jurassic Park while waiting for morning tea.

Time for cupcakes, babycinos and a round of 'Happy Birthday'.

Yes, we did bring Elizabeth too- she was celebrating her 11 month 'birthday' that day.

Then we met up with Daddy for sushi for lunch.

It was Joseph's first trip to Sushi Station. He loves sushi and he loves trains, so the combination of the two of them was heaven!

Then we went home and Joseph gave Grandma a quick check up with his new doctor's kit. Apparently Grandma's heart was 'beating', which Grandma was relieved to hear.

Then it was time for Joseph's requested/ demanded birthday dinner of sausages and 'pasgetti'- his two favourites.

And after more cupcakes and more singing, it was the end of a great (and exhausting!) day.

Celebrating Three: The Party

Well, it wasn't really a party, we just had family over for cake, but in Joseph's eyes it was a party, so don't tell him otherwise!

The elaborate dump truck cake that the birthday boy requested. His favourite part? The 'rubbish' (lollies) in the back. He went to town shoving lollies into his mouth as quickly as he could. Had a known that, I would have skipped making the cake, saved myself a few hours and untold grey hairs, and just put a candle in a bowl of mixed lollies.

After a quick solo rendition of 'Happy Birthday to Joseph' as we were taking too long, it was on with the show...

Ten Months

It's hard for me to believe, but this young lady is now ten months old.

It might be the last month that we take photos on the red chair- I am not so comfortable with the standing on the chair.

...and really not comfortable with the standing on the chair and not holding on. (I took the photo as I ran to catch her as she fell off- the things I do for this blog!)

Elizabeth is proving to follow in her brother's footsteps and likes to get into everything and is starting to discover cupboards, the fridge magnets, and especially the dishwasher.

Elizabeth is aways standing now and loves to cruise around the furniture. Now that she's upright a lot of the time, even Joseph comments on how tall she is.
