Useful Life Skills

Any of you that have seen Joseph over the past few months know that Koala is his constant companion. Koala is usually carried about in the crook of Joseph's elbow- so much so that the pressure of Joseph's arm around her (Koala is a girl, sometimes called Libby) has pushed the stuffing both upwards and downwards so that Koala has an abnormally big head, very floppy neck, and huge tummy. I think we're getting to the point where a back up Koala may be required- if anyone is heading to Currumbin Bird Sanctuary let me know- I might just have a secret mission for you....

Anyway, Koala gets dirty and smells like you wouldn't believe and won't survive too many more spins through the washing machine so measures have been taken of late to keep Koala clean ie. 'Koala doesn't want to play in the sandpit today, she might stay in bed for a rest' etc. So Grandma decides to jump on this 'Keep Koala Clean' bandwagon, so she taught Joseph the following.....

....how to eat your porridge and carefully place your bib over Koala's head so that it doesn't spill on her. Yes, apparently these are the types of life lessons that Grandma's like to impart, not useful skills like how to not bring your toys to the dinner table.....

Dinosaur Island

When I came home from hospital, Brendan and Joseph thought that they would bake a cake to welcome me home. But they didn't make just any cake, they made Dinosaur Island. Dinosaur Island is a cake that can't be described in words.......

Dinosaur Island was many things, including delicious. If you've never been welcomed home by a Dinosaur Island, I can highly recommend it!

Joseph the puppy

The other morning I left Joseph to do some drawing while I had a shower. When I came out he had covered his cheeks with spots.

He told me that they were 'puppy spots'.

Puppy spots??

But before I could determine exactly what puppy spots were, he'd yanked off his socks and, as Daddy (who else?) has taught him, put them on his ears to make puppy ears.

And presto, Joseph the puppy.

On Dad's watch....

No wonder Joseph thinks that I'm boring when Dad lets him do things like.....

...drive his car and paint at the same time...hey, why not paint your car while you are at it?

Paint him a car parking space to practice his reverse parking.
Daddy rules!

Rainy Sunday

A few Sundays ago it was cold and rainy, and while the good parents of Brisbane rugged their children up and kept them dry, we sent Joseph out in the garden to test out his raincoat and gum boots.

Elizabeth at seven months

The days continue to fly by and somehow Miss Elizabeth has reached seven months already.

We were given this toy as a hand me down and Elizabeth loves it. She'll stand in these very seriously and will try to make everything work. We call it 'the office'-as we don't know what else to call it- and she looks like she's at her little workstation trying to get work done.

Elizabeth is getting better at sitting, but she much prefers this new position. Lots of rocking on all fours. The only real movement we get so far is backward though.

This is Elizabeth's standard sleep position. Once she's in the cot, she'll put her thumb in, hold her beloved 'hanky' in the other hand and pretty much close her eyes straight up. She loves a good sleep! (I just love her chubby little wrists!)
