Getting in touch with his creative side

Lately we've been trying out a bit of artwork as a way to fill in the days, and we've had varying degrees of success.
Joseph loved 'cooking' the Play Dough

.....and like all good chefs needed to taste his creation- apparently yellow tastes yucky

And he loves playing with the end result too.

So next we gave drawing a try. Joseph ate the crayons, so we moved onto felt pens- which are even more fun when you can draw with one in each hand.

Joseph's love of body art is a little worrying...and tested the claim of the felt pens being washable
So we chalked up drawing as a success. Mental note to Mum though, feed Joseph breakfast before you give him the felt pens, lest he be tempted to eat the tops off a few.......

Joseph's first haircut

I'd put it off for a long as possible, but it was time for Joseph to join the ranks of the Barrett men with their short back and sides , so a few weeks ago Joseph has his first haircut.

It was all promising at the start... he was happy in the car seat with the DVDs to watch
But soon things turned from bad...
to worse...turns out that Joseph was secretly attached to his baby mullet...how the poor hairdresser didn't cut off one of his ears given all of the wriggling that was going on, I'll never know.
Things picked up at the end once he got his lollipop but Joseph still wouldn't give Mum any smiles...

'Nice Gorgin'

Joseph has been obsessed with trains for a while now, so his Thomas the Tank Engine DVD is a big hit. Strangely though, Thomas is not Joseph's favourite train. Instead he loves Gordon (or 'Gorgin', as Joseph likes to say it)- who is the biggest and crankiest train (perhaps Gordon reminds Joseph of Daddy, or worse, Mummy??). A few weeks ago Brendan bought Joseph a Gordon train and it has been a massive hit. It is rarely out of his sight and has been named 'nice Gorgin'. In Joseph's world, 'nice' is the biggest compliment he can pay, so 'nice car' is his favourite car, 'nice Gorgin' is his favourite train etc.
The photos below are of when Daddy gave Gordon to Joseph, and for the next hour the only words we heard out of his mouth were 'nice Gorgin'.

Gordon gets a kiss goodnight every night without fail- not even Mummy gets that!
